Recognized for contributions to the Al Amal Science Education Program, an initiative aimed at promoting scientific literacy and geophysics education among Egyptian youth.

Outstanding Presentation Award — ISFT 2019, Thailand

Received the Outstanding Presentation Award at the International Symposium on Frontier Technology (ISFT 2019), Thailand (August 2019), for the presentation: Source classification of natural and man-made infrasound events.

Egypt-Japan Education Partnership (EJEP-3) Full Ph.D. Scholarship (2019–2022)

Awarded a full scholarship under the Egypt-Japan Education Partnership (EJEP-3) program to pursue a Ph.D. in Engineering at Kochi University of Technology, Japan.

Media & Public Engagement

Hayabusa-2 Re-entry Detection — Japanese Media Coverage (2020–2022)

Contributed to the Hayabusa-2 re-entry detection campaign through analysis and modeling of infrasound propagation. The collaborative work received significant coverage in Japanese media and resulted in two peer-reviewed publications in acoustic and astronomy journals.

CTBTO Young Professionals Network (YPN) — Featured Profile

Featured in the YPN Stories series by the CTBTO Preparatory Commission as “Meet Islam Hamama from Egypt”, highlighting research in infrasound monitoring and source verification to the international nuclear test-ban treaty science community.

Field Research & International Collaboration

Perth Infrasound Deployment — Australia (2022)

Recipient of the ISEE (Nagoya University) International Travel Support grant (470,000 JPY) for the field research project: Seismo-acoustic and optical observations of meteors over Perth, Australia. The project involved deploying a remote infrasound monitoring system integrated with Desert Fireball Network cameras in Perth — the system remains operational to date.
